Smaller organizations = smaller problems, right? 

Not quite.

While the scale of operations may differ, small organizations are expected to meet the same high standards as larger organizations, whether it’s from government, funders, staff, or the community. And typically, they are expected to do it all with fewer resources. This speaks to the dedication, agility and resourcefulness of small organizations.

Take privacy as an example. Small organizations still need to protect their data, follow the applicable laws, train their people and have appropriate policies and processes in place, AND they typically don’t have a Privacy Officer, or a team trained to do this work. Lowering the standards for smaller organizations is definitely not the answer, as the rules protect not only the business itself but the people being served.  

Maybe instead, the approach to meeting these standards could use some help?  

Firefly Strategic Consulting wants to help strengthen small organizations and believes in right-sizing solutions to fit an organization, rather than following a templated checklist. We work with teams to understand their strategic goals, the tasks they perform to achieve these goals and incorporate accountability checks, wherever possible.
